The Y.E.S. Harp Ensemble, sponsored by the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Harp Society (SVCAHS), was founded in 2014. The purpose of the Youth Ensemble Success (YES) Program is to provide harpists a friendly, musical, and fun social environment that encourages learning and sharing of talents. Playing in a group inspires students to continue involvement with music.
The YES Program provides sequential and practical goals for students to develop performance skills and music appreciation. The curriculum will also work on technical development including ear training, sight-reading, music theory, and music history. This is an educational program to encourage students to strive for collaboration with one another toward musical excellence.
Y.E.S. performs at various events in both the harp and larger community. They have performed at the 2017 World Harp Congress in Hong Kong, 2018 American Harp Society Conference in Redlands, USA. In the local area, the ensemble often performs at SVCAHS events, various retirement homes, libraries, churches, and holiday concerts.
Y.E.S. is sponsored by the Silicon Valley Chapter of the American Harp Society and taught by Sonya Yu with student teaching assistants.
